We are delighted to welcome you.
The Orthodox Catholic Archdiocese of North America is a Western Rite expression of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, faithfully continuing the tradition handed down from the Apostles. We are a community of believers called by Christ to a life of radical discipleship, prayer, service, and faithful witness to the Gospel.
We do not embrace mandatory celibacy for clergy. While celibacy is honored as a sacred vocation and may be encouraged for those who freely choose it, Holy Scripture does not require it for church leadership. Rather, Scripture clearly permits married men to serve in ministry. Therefore, we believe that imposing celibacy as a universal requirement for church leaders is inconsistent with biblical teaching (see 1 Timothy 4:1–5).
Each person must prayerfully discern God’s call. Are you being called to a life of radical discipleship? Are you inspired by the compassion of Mother Teresa, the prayerful devotion of the Desert Fathers, the courage and sacrifice of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, or the self-giving life exemplified by Jesus Christ? Are you called to a prophetic vocation, full-time ministry, and service to the poor, the forgotten, and the marginalized?
If your answer is yes, we welcome you with open hearts and open arms as we journey together in faith, hope, and love.
